VIDEO: Beirut Honor–In Memory of Those Who Lost Their Lives
On October 23, 1983, the terrorist group Islamic Jihad, an off-shoot rogue terror organization, funded primarily by Iran and Syria at the time had a suicide bomber drive into the Marine Barracks Compound in Beirut Lebanon and detonate enough explosives that killed 220 Marines, 18 Sailors and 3 soldiers as they slept in on a Sunday Morning.
Units from the 2nd Battalion 6th Marines from Camp Lejeune, N.C., immediately went into action and deployed to Beirut in a matter of hours to support their brothers.
We honor the memory and sacrifice of those who served and died there.
